Iran determined to develop space technology - Tehran Times

TEHRAN – Hassan Salarieh, the head of the Iranian Space Agency, has emphasized the country's determination to develop space technology.

The Iranian Space Agency launched a satellite called "Khayyam" with a wide range of environmental functions at 10:22 local time on Tuesday. It was put into orbit by a Russian Soyuz rocket from the Baikonur space station in Kazakhstan.

In a first, researchers produce oxygen from magnets for space exploration

Now, researchers have invented a new way to make oxygen for astronauts using magnets, according to a University of Warwick statement .

"On the International Space Station, oxygen is generated using an electrolytic cell that splits water into hydrogen and oxygen, but then you have to get those gasses out of the system.

Mineral Extraction on Moon?

The US space agency has asked university students to design a metal production pipeline on the Moon — from extracting metal from lunar minerals to creating structures and tools.

The ability to extract metal and build needed infrastructure on the Moon advances the Artemis Programme goal of a sustained human presence on the lunar surface, NASA said in a statement.

$20.2 million contract awarded to Sierra Space for rocket engine project

MIDDLETON, Wis. (WMTV) - A $20.2 million contract recently awarded to Sierra Space for the development of a rocket engine is expected to create dozens of new jobs in Sauk County.

The company will use the funds to construct an Advanced Upper Stage Rocket Engine, which will be built in Baraboo. The project contract is expected to create over 100 new jobs in Baraboo.

Maxar to aid L3Harris in tracking missiles from space

WASHINGTON — Maxar Technologies will build 14 spacecraft platforms for L3Harris Technologies as part of a Pentagon program for tracking missile threats, including from hypersonic systems, Maxar announced Tuesday.

The Space Development Agency announced last month that L3Harris and Northrop Grumman had each won a contract to produce 14 satellites for the Tranche 1 Tracking Layer in low Earth orbit. These satellites are designed to warn of and track missiles launches.

Researchers develop new faster charging hydro | EurekAlert!

Researchers from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) have developed a new method to improve solid-state hydrogen fuel cell charging times.

Hydrogen is gaining significant attention as an efficient way to store 'green energy' from renewables such as wind and solar. Compressed gas is the most common form of hydrogen storage, however it can also be stored in a liquid or solid state.
