COLUMBIA, Md. and HOUSTON, Aug. 2, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- A recent study reports evidence of deformation in the oldest solids formed in our solar system resulting from nebular shocks.
Calcium-aluminum-rich inclusions (CAIs) are millimeter- to centimeter-sized objects hosted in primitive meteorites. They are the oldest solids to have condensed from the nebular gas and, therefore, preserve records of the earliest chemical and physical processes.
More supernova dust in the solar system
Until recently, cosmochemists and astrophysicists assumed that supernovae and their progenitors, the supergiant stars, contributed only little of our solar system's stardust content.
The newly published article in Nature Astronomy presents recent findings from studies of these presolar grains and discusses implications for future research, interstellar dust models, and the interpretation of astronomical observations of dust in the ejecta of supernova explosions.
Saturn, The Most Beautiful Planet In The Solar System - Borneo24.com
Nation World News, Borneo24.com – Saturn is the most beautiful planet in the solar system. Saturn is admired for its beauty because of the thousands of beautiful rings around it. Also this planet is more complex than other planets.
Saturn was first discovered by Galileo in 1610. Galileo had not yet discovered with an ordinary telescope that the planet had rings, but he had realized that there was something different about this ringed planet.
A third of Russians believe Sun revolves around Earth - survey - The Jerusalem Post
A third of Russians believe that the Sun orbits the Earth, according to a survey on scientific misconceptions published Tuesday by VCIOM, the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion.
Triton, Neptune's largest moon | The Planetary Society
It's cold and dim in the Solar System's suburbs. Triton, the largest of Neptune 's 14 known moons, gets 900 times less sunlight than Earth, and much of that light reflects off the icy world's surface.
Scientists think Triton probably came from the Kuiper Belt, a band of icy objects beyond Neptune that includes Pluto. Neptune's gravity may have pulled Triton into its orbit long ago.
Meteorite findings shed light on origin of Earth's volatile elements | University of St Andrews news
A study into the zinc isotope composition of meteorites by researchers from the University of St Andrews suggests that material from the outer solar system was an important source of volatile elements during the formation of the Earth.
The question of the origin of the volatile elements present on Earth is fundamental to understanding the evolution of our planet.

If a distant solar system is millions of light years away and so we see it as it was millions of years ago, how can we see what it looks like now? Parul, aged 13, Sri Ganganagar, India
Climate Deal Could Bring Benefits of Solar and Clean Energy to Millions, Lowering Energy Bills and ...
The deal is indeed a compromise that includes objectionable handouts to the fossil fuel industry. Nevertheless, it contains many major steps towards climate equity.
The package also includes the extension and expansion of clean energy tax credits, which are foundational for clean energy technology deployment in the U.S. In addition to extending the solar tax credits for 10 years, it makes the credits more equitable and accessible.
Explosion on Sun's Surface Sparks Space Weather Concerns; G1-Class Solar Storm to Hit Earth on ...
As the main star of our solar system approaches the peak activity phase of its 11-year solar cycle, its tantrums have increasingly worsened. And since the beginning of 2022, there's been a flurry of explosive activity on the Sun.
Considering the 150 million kilometre distance between the Sun and us, one might assume that these explosions and sparks will have no impact on Earth. But we couldn't be more wrong.
