One exciting way to find planets: Detect the signals from their magnetospheres

But there hasn't been a clear radio signal from a Jupiter-like planet orbiting another star. In this new study, the team looked at what such a signal might be like.

They found several interesting things. For one, the team showed that the planet would produce a clear light curve. That is a radio signal that varies because of the motion of the planet. This is great because radio observations of motion are extremely precise.

Here's Your Chance To Name One Of The 20 New Planets Found | KOOL 108 | Dubs

Thanks to the amazing James Webb Telescope -- which is actually orbiting the sun -- astronomers have discovered about 5,000 new planets out there. To celebrate, the International Astronomical Union is giving people the chance to name 20 of these "new" planets .

While this might sound fun, there are a bunch of rules to follow, and it sounds like a lot of work. The IAU is running a contest. They want teams of students, teachers and lovers of astronomy to propose names "worthy of being assigned to a celestial object.
