Sherif Mohamed Sedky appointed as CEO of Egyptian Space Agency - SpaceWatch.Global

Edinburgh, 29 August 2022. – Egypt's President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, appointed Professor Sherif Mohamed Sedky as the new executive head of the Egyptian Space Agency, Space in Africa reported. Professor Sedky will serve as executive head for one year.

Professor Sedky is replacing Dr Mohamed Al-Qousi, who has been in the position since 2019. Dr Al-Qousi helped creating and transferring, developing and localizing space technology to build and launch satellites from the country.

Explained: NASA's mission to the Moon, and why it was aborted

The launch of a keenly awaited space mission that is being seen as the start of a new age in space exploration had to be put off on Monday evening after engineers were unable to resolve a problem involving inadequate flow of liquid hydrogen to one of the rocket's four engines.

NASA did not say when it would attempt to launch the mission again. There are at least two windows of opportunity in the next one week, and more after a few weeks. But it will all depend on how soon the problem is fixed.

D-Orbit wins tender for launch and deployment of two TU Berlin satellites - SpaceWatch.Global

Franklin Chang’s plasma engine could be in space in 2025 | Q COSTA RICA

QCOSTARICA – The plasma engine developed by Costa Rican astronaut Franklin Chang could reach space through a test by the year 2025.

CubeRover Funded for Survive-the-Lunar-Night Mission – Parabolic Arc

PITTSBURGH (Astrobotic PR) – Astrobotic has been selected by NASA’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Sequential Phase II program to develop, test, and fly lunar night survival and communication technologies onboard its CubeRover platform.

Surviving the lunar night is no small feat. Temperatures can easily drop to – 200⁰C, which would typically disable thermally sensitive components like batteries and electronics and end a rover mission after just one lunar day of operation.
