Hackers Paralyze 911 Operations in Suffolk County, NY

A Sept. 8 ransomware attack on Suffolk County government systems in New York continues to wreak havoc on citizens of the area, driving overwhelmed 911 operators working without the aid of computers to call for backup.

The ransomware attack means that emergency operators are working with pen and paper, then making phone calls to dispatch officers to send help, according to New York's NBC affiliate. The Suffolk County Police Department has asked the New York Police Department for help handling the calls .

FBI: Iranian hackers lurked in Albania's govt network for 14 months

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and CISA said that one of the Iranian threat groups behind the destructive attack on the Albanian government's network in July lurked inside its systems for roughly 14 months.

"The actors maintained continuous network access for approximately a year, periodically accessing and exfiltrating e-mail content."

Iranian Hackers Indicted for Attacks on Government Agencies, Critical Infrastructure Companies - ...

The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has indicted three Iranian hackers for a campaign of attacks dating back to 2020.

The three hackers (Mansur Ahmadi, 34; Ahmad Khatibi Aghda, 45; and Amir Hossein Nickaein, 30) appear to have been acting on their own for personal gain, but included critical infrastructure companies and government agencies among their targets.
