LONDON, Dec 1 (Reuters) - At a vast warehouse in the southern Dutch city of Roosendaal, automated cranes and driverless vehicles silently stack clothes for the French and Italian stores of retailer Primark, reducing the need for hard-to-come-by labour.
AI in Health Care: No, the Robots Are Not Taking Over
Dec. 1, 2022 – It's common for many people to fear the unknown, and exactly how artificial intelligence might transform the health care and medical experience is no exception.
People might be afraid, for example, that AI will remove all human interaction from health care in the future. Not true, say the experts. Doctors and other health care workers might fear the technology will replace their clinical judgment and experience. Also not true, experts say.
Making 'transport' robots smarter -- ScienceDaily
"The robotic technology already exists," said Sharan Srinivas, an assistant professor with a joint appointment in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering and the Department of Marketing. "Our goal is to best utilize this technology through efficient planning.
Currently, a lot of human effort and labor costs are involved with fulfilling online orders. To help optimize this process, robotic companies have already developed collaborative robots -- also known as cobots or autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) -- to work in a warehouse or distribution center.
The future of humanity: A massive war between humans and robots | Marca
There would be 'real humans' and ' technological humans' or posthumans, born from the development of Artificial Intelligence.
The study, which was published in The Conversation, says that species are transient and that the strongest one prevails over the rest.
Sanjiban Choudhury: Building robots that work seamlessly with humans | Cornell Engineering
Research summary: My research aims to enable robots to work seamlessly alongside human partners to accomplish everyday tasks. For robots to acquire skills to work with people, they must solve the problem of interaction and imitation.
What inspired you to pursue a career in this field? My interest in robotics began in my undergraduate years when I led a small rag-tag team to the robot soccer world cup.
Robots are learning to brace themselves against walls to avoid falling | Engadget
D-Reflex isn't guaranteed to prevent a fall, if partly because it can't account for every possible position or surface. It also doesn't help the robot recover once it averts catastrophe — you won't see the automaton limping along a wall until it finds help.
New simulation platform could help build more caregiving robots
Caregiving robots would be transformative for people with disabilities and their caretakers, but few research groups are working in this space. A new robotic simulation platform developed by Cornell researchers may help more people enter the field.
The open-source platform RCareWorld provides a realistic simulation of home caregiving scenarios by combining: accurate avatars representing people with motor disabilities; homes with different levels of modifications for accessibility; and caregiving robots.
