Ancient asteroid grains provide insight into the evolution of our solar system

Julia Parker is the principal beamline scientist for I14 at Diamond. She said, "The X-ray Nanoprobe allows scientists to examine the chemical structure of their samples at micron- to nano-length scales, which is complemented by the nano to atomic resolution of the imaging at ePSIC.

The data collected at Diamond contributed to a wider study of the space weathering signatures on the asteroid. The pristine asteroid samples enabled the collaborators to explore how space weathering can alter the physical and chemical composition of the surface of carbonaceous asteroids like ...

Oxygen isotope evidence from Ryugu samples for early water delivery to Earth by CI chondrites | ...

The delivery of water to the inner Solar System, including Earth, is still a debated topic. A preferential role for hydrated asteroids in this process is supported by isotopic measurements.

a , Magnetite (Mag) occurs both as clusters of framboids and spherical aggregates. The dominant, fine-grained dark material comprises intergrown serpentine and saponite (Serp/Sap). The fine-grained dark matrix represents intergrown serpentine and saponite.

Astronomers detect a mysterious glow around the solar system | SYFY WIRE

From Dean Devlin, the creative mind behind Independence Day and Stargate , comes a new sci-fi adventure set in deep space. The Ark takes place 100 years in the future, as the crew of the Ark One sets out in search of a new home planet, with the fate of humanity in the balance.

Astronomers from the SKYSURF project scoured 200,000 archival images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope , and made tens of thousands of measurements quantifying the light in the night sky.

Scientists trace fireball to strange rocky meteoroid from the Oort Cloud | Space

A rocky meteoroid that exploded over Canada last year was more extraordinary than it first seemed: it originated from the outer solar system, where scientists thought only icy bodies exist.

"This discovery supports an entirely different model of the formation of the solar system, one which backs the idea that significant amounts of rocky material co-exist with icy objects within the Oort Cloud," Denis Vida, a meteor physis specialist at Western University in Canada, said in a ...

How To Upgrade To A Bigger Solar Power System

If you want to increase the size of your existing rooftop solar system, you typically have 4 options for upgrading:

When dinosaurs roamed the earth and I worked as a solar installer, it was common to design and install a system where the inverter was bigger (in kW) than the solar array. Fast forward to today, and the opposite is true .

Kepler's first exoplanet is spiraling toward its doom

For the first time, astronomers have spotted an exoplanet whose orbit is decaying around an aging star. The doomed world appears destined to spiral closer and closer to its expanding star until they collide, obliterating the first exoplanet discovered by the Kepler space telescope.

Clean energy advocates urge N.C.

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina regulators must reject a Duke Energy plan to impose new fees and onerous requirements on residential solar customers, says a coalition of advocacy groups.

New fixed fees for solar customers lead to rates that discriminate against them and raise legal questions, the groups said in a joint brief and proposed partial order they filed with regulators on Friday.

Pair Solar With Other Industrial Processes - Global Trade Magazine

Today's industrial facilities are more complex than ever with artificial intelligence, IoT clouds, and other advanced technologies. This complexity drives up the cost of industrial operations and limits their ability to scale effectively.

Industrial operations are also highly sensitive to any change in their environment, whether it's a change in market prices, new regulations, or usage of raw materials. These factors make industrial processes an ideal candidate for solar adoption.
