ICON To Develop Space-based Construction Technology For Moon Exploration - Manufactur3D

ICON , a pioneer in advanced construction technologies and large-scale 3D printing, announced that it has been awarded a contract under NASA's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program's Phase III.

The nearly $60 million contract expands on previous NASA and Department of Defense funding for ICON's Project Olympus, which aims to research and develop space-based construction systems to support planned Moon and beyond exploration.

The Air Force Research Laboratory, or AFRL, partnered with CNM Ingenuity, or CNMI, the economic development arm of Central New Mexico Community College, to hold the 2022 Hyperdrive Space Summit in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Nov. 15-17, 2022.

“The summit was created to include a cross section of participants comprised of small businesses, military leaders and members from the U.S. Space Force, SpaceWERX, investors and community professionals,” Mounce said.

Advisory panel to examine DoD's demand for commercial space systems - SpaceNews

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon's top research official has directed the Defense Science Board to examine the military's growing demand for commercial space technology and its implications, and to recommend steps DoD should take to ensure access to these services.

Heidi Shyu, undersecretary of defense for research and engineering, in a memo last month established a Defense Science Board task force on "commercial space system access and integrity."

Ukraine's Promin Aerospace on track for 2023 flight test - SpaceNews

"We have done a lot of research, development and manufacturing in the last 10 months and we hired two engineers in August," Misha Rudominski, Promin CEO and co-founder, told SpaceNews .

Promin's research and development laboratory is based in Dnipro, a central Ukrainian city that has been struck by Russian missiles. To keep employees there safe, Promin does not publicize the location of its lab.
