Space-tech firm Maxar nabs US$6.4B selling price - Technology | Business in Vancouver

The space technology firm that got its start in Richmond has secured a sky-high selling price of US$6.4 billion.

Maxar Technologies (NYSE:MAXR) (TSX:MAXR) revealed Friday it's the target of an all-cash deal that would see it acquired by global equity firm Advent International, with British Columbia Investment Management Corp. (BCI) taking a minority stake worth US$1 billion.

CISA researchers: Russia's Fancy Bear infiltrated US satellite network - CyberScoop

Researchers at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency recently discovered suspected Russian hackers lurking inside a U.S. satellite network, raising fresh concerns about Moscow’s intentions to infiltrate and disrupt the rapidly expanding space economy.

While details of the attack are scant, researchers blamed the incident on the Russian military group known as Fancy Bear , or APT28. It involved a satellite communications provider with customers in U.S. critical infrastructure sectors.

FARGO — North Dakotans played many major roles in the U.S. space race. They designed rockets, invented the necessary rocket propellant to lift satellites into orbit, created and manufactured the satellites and other payloads carried into orbit, administered the entire U.S.

The first essential needs for space travel are rockets capable of reaching outer space. The A-4 rocket, invented by Wernher von Braun, was the world's first long-range guided rocket at the time.
