The AI-enabled chatbot that's been wowing the tech community can also be manipulated to help cybercriminals perfect their attack strategies.

The big picture: Malicious hackers were already getting scarily good at incorporating more humanlike and difficult-to-detect tactics into their attacks before ChatGPT entered the scene.

Hackers steal $3.5M worth of digital assets from GMX whale

Hackers have started the year with another exploit, with several million being taken from a whale holding large amounts of decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol GMX's native token.

On Jan. 3, various community members saw suspicious movements of GMX tokens. Following this, security firms CertiK and PeckShield flagged the transactions as an exploit that drained $3.4 million worth of GMX tokens from a GMX whale.

The hackers, who call themselves the United Resistance Center, posted more than 70 electronic copies of PCR test certificates with the names Alexander and Nikolai Lukashenko on Telegram.

The independent Belarusian outlet Zerkalo deemed the documents genuine , noting that each file contains a QR code that leads to PDF copies of the certificates on the presidential medical center's official site.

Belarusian hackers have announced the hacking of the medical centre for the administration of the affairs of Alexander Lukashenko, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus.

Details: Hackers calling themselves the United Resistance Headquarters have disclosed more than 70 files, which are electronic versions of PCR testing certificates for coronavirus issued to Alexander Lukashenko and his son Nikolai.

Hackers and scammers appear relentless in attacking the nascent crypto sector after conducting numeral attacks last year. In the New Year’s first attack, hackers stole more than $173,000 from RTFKT COO Nikhil Gopalani.

In a January 3 blog post, Nikhil Gopalani, the Chief Operation Officer at RTFKT, confirmed that hackers breached his crypto wallet, stealing more than $173,000 in the first phishing attacks this new year.

North Korean Crypto Hackers Are Posing As VC Firms to Target Banks
