STEM Academy students selected to send science experiment to space - Odessa American

Ector County ISD announced Friday that a team of five students from the STEM Academy campus will be sending an experiment to the International Space Station in the summer of 2023 as part of Mission 17 of the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program.

SSEP is an international program that engages students in designing experiments that will be carried out in microgravity by astronauts on the ISS. This will be the fourth experiment from ECISD flown to the ISS as part of the SSEP program.

Satellites watch atmospheric river continue to drench California | Space

More rain is on its way to an already drenched California as forecasters observe two new "atmospheric rivers" form above the Pacific Ocean on their way to ship huge amounts of tropical moisture to the usually dry and sunny state.

After a superstorm dumped over 5 inches (12.7 centimeters) of rain in some coastal regions of California on Wednesday and Thursday (Jan. 4 and 5.), triggering flash floods and causing widespread power outages, Californians have received only a brief respite.

South Korea's moon mission snaps stunning Earth pics | Space

South Korea's first moon mission is beaming back images of home from its position in low lunar orbit.

Danuri , also known as the Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO), launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in early August last year and arrived in lunar orbit four months later, in mid-December.
