'Hidden' planet could be five times the size of Earth
A huge planet that has never been seen by astronomers could be lurking, almost invisibly, at the dark edges of our solar system, some scientists believe.
But the search goes on for the mysterious 'ninth planet' which is thought to sit far beyond Neptune in our solar system, said space expert Sara Webb.
Mercury Transits the Sun in New Images From Solar Orbiter
On January 3, the Solar Orbiter spotted Mercury passing in front of the Sun. The transit of the small, dark orb puts the scale of our solar system into sharp relief.
Another tool, the Spectral Imaging of the Coronal Environment (SPICE) instrument aboard the orbiter, revealed Mercury's transit as it appeared through different layers of the solar atmosphere.
Research shows there are four classes of planetary systems – ThePrint – ANIFeed
Geneva [Switzerland], February 24 (ANI): In our solar system, everything seems to be in order: The smaller rocky planets, such as Venus, Earth or Mars, orbit relatively close to our star.
“More than a decade ago, astronomers noticed, based on observations with the then groundbreaking Kepler telescope, that planets in other systems usually resemble their respective neighbours in size and mass – like peas in a pod,” says study lead author Lokesh Mishra, researcher ...
If Planet 9 has Moons, Would That Help Us Find It? - Universe Today
Planet 9 continues to remain elusive. This potential super-Earth-sized object in the outer Solar System is only hypothetical, as something out there appears to be gravitationally influencing several Kuiper Belt Objects into unusual orbits.
But what if Planet 9 has moons? Could they help us find it? A new paper speculates that any moons orbiting the theoretical planet could provide indirect clues to the location of Planet 9, while revealing some basic properties of this mysterious object.
