Astronomers have discovered an unusual planetary system consisting of a Jupiter-sized planet orbiting a tiny star that is only four times the size of the solar system gas giant.
Though on average this class of stars hosts more planets around them than other star types, it was previously believed that their formation makes them unlikely to be orbited by gas giants .
This Planet Is Way Too Big to Be Orbiting This Teeny Tiny Star : ScienceAlert
There are a lot of weird and wonderful planets outside the Solar System, but a newly discovered world is a real space oddity.
What is unusual is TOI-5205's size compared to the Jupiter-sized exoplanet. The star is not quite four times its planet's radius, clocking in just under 40 percent of the radius and mass of the Sun.

Maggie Haberman reacts to Trump grand jury foreperson's remarks: 'I've never seen anything like it'
Astronomers have found an unusually large planet orbiting a small star, located about 280 light-years from Earth.
The unexpected size of the newly discovered world, called TOI 5205b, has led researchers to call it the "forbidden planet."
Out in Space Lies a Mysterious, Massive Planet That Shouldn't Exist
And submerged within the void of space, we've now located exactly one planetary friend of TOI-5205, according to a paper published this week in The Astronomical Journal.
Scientists call it TOI-5205b. Yes, that moniker is based on formality, but you must admit it's also kinda cute.
