Asteroid Didymos May Spin So Fast It Flings Rocks into Space - Scientific American

An asteroid called Didymos recently had a close encounter with a spacecraft.

Researchers made the discovery soon after NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft brought Didymos into the spotlight.

The explosive visit also gave scientists an up-close peek at both asteroids, and DART will be followed by a thorough investigation of the binary asteroid system by the European Space Agency’s Hera mission.

“Asteroid City” looks pretty great from this trailer, which just dropped from Focus Features.

Wes Anderson is in a return to tongue in cheek form, very dry humor, as he sends up space movies, aliens, and a kind of stylized 50s culture. It’s set in a desert, filmed in Spain. There are nearly two dozen stars.

RNA building block uracil recovered from near-Earth asteroid Ryugu | Research | Chemistry World

A remarkable Japanese mission to the asteroid Ryugu in 2020 returned 5.4g of material for lab analysis, free of earthly contamination. Asteroids were believed to contain organic chemicals and water from when the solar system was forming, around 4.6 billion years ago.
