A 200-foot asteroid is expected to pass closer to Earth than the moon on Saturday, NASA confirmed.
First detected by astronomers at the observatory of La Palma in the Canary Islands, Spain in late February and first announced on March 16 , 2023, DZ2 is currently estimated to be 210 feet in diameter, per Earth Sky. However, its true size could range between 141 and 312 feet in diameter.

The samples were collected by the Japanese Space Agency’s Hayabusa2 spacecraft from two sites on Ryugu in 2019. This enabled researchers to analyze the material without uncontrolled exposure to the Earth’s atmosphere and biosphere.
