Newly Found ‘Forbidden Planet’ Leaves Astronomers Puzzled

Artist's conception of a large gas giant planet orbiting a small red dwarf star called TOI-5205. ... [+] Until now no gas giant has been found in a planetary system around a low-mass M dwarf like TOI-5205

A planet the same size as Jupiter has been found around a surprisingly small red dwarf star about 285 light-years from our solar system.

JPL readies new orbiting observatory to study Earth’s worst kind of air pollution – ...

When satellites are launched into space, usually their cameras are pointed deep into the black void of the universe, sizing up other planets, stars, even galaxies, far, far away.

When NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s latest eye in the sky shoots into orbit next year, the sophisticated instrument built by scientists at the Pasadena-based institution known for its exploration of Mars and Saturn will be observing our own planet, Mother Earth.

An Upcoming Space Mission Could Find a Holy Grail Planet

Alpha Centauri is our closest stellar neighbor, a binary star system located just 4.376 light-years away. Despite its proximity, repeated astronomical surveys have failed to find hard evidence of extrasolar planets in this system.

This low-cost mission concept was designed by a team from the University of Sydney , Australia, and aims to look for potentially-habitable exoplanets in the Alpha Centauri system using the Astrometry Method .

NASA's Webb telescope spots first dust storm on planet outside the solar system

Researchers have honed the very sensitive instruments equipped to the James Webb Space Telescope on a planet in a distant star system, gathering data that informs researchers on the conditions of the planet.

The lucky planet to be a target of the highly advanced James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is an exoplanet called VHS 1256 b, which researchers explain in a recent press release , is a massive brown dwarf planet that's located approximately 40 light-years away from Earth and orbits, not one, but ...
