Renovate is building robots to install roof shingles | TechCrunch

Roofing isn't a glamorous job. In fact, one could reasonably argue that it checks off the classic three Ds of automation — dull, dirty and dangerous — with aplomb. It's a prime candidate for transformation at the hands of some clever roboticists.

Renovate Robotics is building systems for the express purpose of installing shingles — including the asphalt and solar varieties at launch.

Robots Using Hansel-and-Gretel Strategy Could Map Martian Caves

R esearchers from the University of Arizona have developed a possible new way of scouting for real estate on other planets: tiny robots that drop digital breadcrumbs while exploring Martian caves. It's a method ripped straight from folklore.

The breadcrumbs will serve as nodes in a giant network that will offer insights into the layouts of different cave systems.
