Wisconsin high school teams soar in a machine competition focused on space technology

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Five high school teams from Wisconsin have secured their spots in the Engineering Machine Design Championship after excelling in the regional competition hosted by STEM Forward on Friday, March 24.

The contest, held at Milwaukee's Discovery World, tasked teams with designing and building complex machines using everyday objects to accomplish a simple task.

Military space agency created to go fast is about to launch its first satellites - SpaceNews

WASHINGTON — The Space Development Agency, formed inside the Pentagon in 2019 to help accelerate the use of commercial space technology, is preparing to launch on March 30 its inaugural fleet of 10 satellites. 

The launch of SDA's Tranche 0 satellites — scheduled to lift off Thursday morning from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California — marks the beginning of the deployment of what the agency calls a " proliferated warfighter space architecture ."

E-Space to Develop IoT Solutions With UAE Tech Firm e& - Via Satellite -

E-Space is collaborating with United Arab Emirates tech firm e& to develop IoT solutions, the companies announced March 28.

The companies plan to develop cloud-native IoT solutions using e&'s terrestrial infrastructure and E-Space's Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation. The partners said this will create new business models in IoT for governments and large-scale enterprises worldwide.

China plans to use parachutes to control its rocket debris problem | Space

Falling rocket boosters from Chinese orbital launches from inland launch centers have caused issues in recent years as the country ramps up its space activities. 

The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), which makes the country's Long March rockets, is now close to finalizing the design of parachutes and related subsystems to bring rocket boosters down much more accurately.

China to begin constructing its own megaconstellation later this year - SpaceNews

A Long March 5B rocket will be equipped with a Yuanzheng-2 second stage for the first time and launched from the coastal Wenchang spaceport in the second half of the year.

The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), the country's main space contractor, stated in early March that the new Long March 5B and upper stage configuration would be used to launch satellites for a LEO satellite network.
