Astronomers have directly detected a massive exoplanet.

Simon Murphy receives funding from the Australian Research Council. He contributed to this research whilst at the University of Sydney, as well as at the University of Southern Queensland, where he now works as an ARC Future Fellow.

The search for exoplanets (planets outside our Solar System) involves competing for time on Earth's biggest telescopes – yet the hit rate of this search can be disappointingly low.

Europe's Juice Mission Will Launch to Jupiter and Its Moons: How to Watch - The New York Times

Jupiter, king of the solar system, will be getting a new robotic visitor, although the departure from Earth will occur a day later.

The scheduled launch on Thursday of the Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer, or Juice, was called off because of lightning in the vicinity of the launch site at the Guiana Space Center in Kourou, French Guiana, on the northeastern coast of South America. The next launch attempt is Friday.
