In the heart of Brevard County, a monumental creation is taking shape. Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket, one of the largest launching in the world today, is poised for its second mission. The rocket, named after the first American in orbit, is scheduled to lift off from Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on November 9, with a launch window spanning from 2:45 p. m. to 5:11 p. m. This giant rocket will propel NASA's ESCAPADE (Escape and Plasma Acceleration and Dynamics Explorers) mission on its journey to Mars, powered by the first stage's seven BE-4 engines. A significant aspect of this mission is the attempt to land the booster at sea, marking a crucial milestone for Blue Origin. The New Glenn rocket's launchpad is one of the most visible at the Cape, offering a spectacular view for those on Brevard County beaches.
As the company looks to the future, its Merritt Island facility on Space Commerce Way is operating around the clock, producing parts for upcoming missions. The 750,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, which has expanded rapidly over the past five years, is responsible for crafting everything except the engines, which are built in Huntsville, Alabama.
