The Space Coast's remarkable rocket launch streak continued unabated as December dawned, with a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket soaring into the sky on December 1st. At 2:44 a. m., the rocket, carrying 29 Starlink satellites, lifted off from Kennedy Space Center's Launch Pad 39-A, marking the first of at least five planned launches in the next fortnight.

This was the fourth launch for the first-stage booster, which successfully made a recovery landing on the droneship Just Read the Instructions stationed in the Atlantic. This launch was a significant milestone, representing the 102nd launch from either Kennedy Space Center or neighboring Cape Canaveral Space Force Station this year.

SpaceX was responsible for an impressive majority of these launches, with the company having played a pivotal role in surpassing the 2024 record of 93 launches last month. The Space Coast is now on track to approach 110 launches by the end of the year, a testament to the region's growing importance as a hub for space exploration.

According to phys. org, this launch was just the beginning of a busy December on the Space Coast. SpaceX has another Starlink launch planned for Sunday, with its fleet-leading booster aiming for a record 32nd trip ← →
