It's an old fear that's taken on a new relevance in the era of COVID-19, said Scott Hubbard , an adjunct professor of aeronautics and astronautics at Stanford University.

"I have heard from some colleagues in the human spaceflight area that they can see how, in the current environment, the general public could become more concerned about bringing back some alien microbe, virus or contamination," said Hubbard, who is also the former director of NASA Ames and the first Mars program director.

Not to change the topic here:

'Extraterrestrial act:' Years later, Gaffey father and son remember act of kindness at March

It can be an occurrence with family. It can be a global event. It can sometimes be something random.

"In times like this, it's nice to know that there's still people out there that would do something nice for people in need," Mike, now the boys basketball coach at Bishop McDevitt, said.

Mike had wrapped up a season coaching at Annville-Cleona and decided he wanted to take his son Scott to the Alamo Dome to see that year's Final Four. The teams were all No. 1 seeds: UCLA, Kansas, UNC and Memphis. They didn't have much of a rooting interest in the game, but Scott had always wanted to go to the state of Texas, Mike said, and this seemed like a perfect opportunity to go.

Will SETI 2.0 lead to a discovery of intelligent aliens? | Space | EarthSky

Artist's concept of a nearby civilization signaling Earth after observing an Earth transit in front of our sun. Scientists have looked for radio signals from at least 20 nearby stars, those situated so that they might see Earth transits. So far, no signal has been found. And so the search continues. 2020 has been an interesting year so far with respect to the search for extraterrestrial entelligence, aka SETI . No, there’s been no alien signal yet, but scientists have been working with new technologies and strategies that should greatly improve the search. Earlier this year, they also announced that they have a ton of new survey data to go through, collected in previous years by radio telescopes.

Silver State Sights: The Extraterrestrial Highway

RACHEL, Nev. (KOLO) Depending on what your taste in scenery, it is either one of the most boring, desolate drives you can make, or a hard to find collection of sights that only the Nevada desert can offer.

Nevada State Route 375 is a 98-mile stretch of road that runs from U.S. 6 in Nye County to U.S. 93 in Lincoln County. The northern most stretch of the road is the most barren section, and the southern stretch features one of the densest Joshua tree forests in the state.
