A newly launched lunar loo challenge is asking those who are interested to redesign a toilet for the Moon that works in both lunar gravity and microgravity. NASA expects to return humans to the celestial orb in 2024 as part of the Artemis program .
Working with the challenge platform HeroX, NASA is on the hunt for the best lunar, ahem, throne. A $35,000 prize awaits for the top three technical designs. Winners also get to consult with NASA engineers about their designs. NASA's Human Landing System (HLS) program wants to improve upon the space bathroom options already used at the International Space Station with a next-gen design that's smaller and more efficient. The toilets will be used on lunar landers.

Moon House / SAV Architecture + Design | ArchDaily
Formed around a louvered courtyard of existing trees , the Moon House is defined by its subtle curved entrance and its black grey textured facade of local black slate stone. The fluid insitu concrete steps contrast with the warmth of the large teak pivoted wooden door and the shadows created by the moon calendar screen adjacent to it.
All the bedrooms overlook the internal courtyards and have attached bath spaces that are naturally lit , expansive and made with simple concrete and natural stone tiles. The master bedroom is connected to the rest of the house through a small louvered bridge across the pool and has a large monolith bath space with a sunken shower space that looks onto the trees .
Asteroids, Posing Planets And A 'Buck Moon Eclipse': What You Can See In The Night Sky This Week

Each Monday I pick out the northern hemisphere's celestial highlights for the week ahead, but be sure to check my main feed for more in-depth articles on stargazing, eclipses and astronomy.
Something for the weekend? Although today through Friday is ideal for moon-gazing during the afternoon, and for planet-gazing at Jupiter and Saturn rising before midnight, this week the night sky mostly holds back until the weekend. Saturday sees a full Moon quickly followed by a rare (though subtle) "Buck" or "Thunder Moon Eclipse," with Sunday evening rounding it all nicely with a pretty Saturn-Moon-Jupiter conjunction.

The moon gateway will be supplemented with a robotic arm | FREE NEWS
The Canadian Space Agency is planning a contract for the construction of robotic arms with MacDonald, Dettwiler, and Associates (MDA). They will complement the moon gateway (Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway), which is designed to study the moon and deep space.
Under the contract, the space agency will receive a whole robotic system. It consists of a manipulator of 8.5 meters and a small manipulator, which will be “more dexterous”. The system also includes a set of specialized tools and artificial intelligence technologies that allow you to carry out operations without the use of controllers.

The Moon Is Lopsided, And New Research Could Finally Explain Why
The Moon may be Earth's closest cosmic neighbour - and the only extraterrestrial body humans have ever set foot on - but there's a lot about it we don't understand. And one of the biggest mysteries is why its two sides are so significantly different.
Researchers have proposed a possible new explanation, backed by experimental evidence. The Moon's asymmetry, a recent paper lays out, could be down to an asymmetrical distribution of radioactive elements.
Haunting Photos Show How Last Year's Lunar Eclipse Looked From The Moon
On 2 July 2019, the Moon cast its shadow on the surface of the Earth. This time, the shadow's path travelled across the South Pacific Ocean. It also passed over some of Argentina and Chile. For surface dwellers in the path, the Moon briefly blocked the Sun, turning night into day.
But for one "eye" in orbit around the Moon, the view was different. A camera on a tiny satellite watched as the circular shadow of the Moon moved over the Earth's surface.
