The move accelerates the adoption of Miso Robotics’ newly designed Flippy robot into kitchens to speed up production and allow more staff to work in the front of the house to service customers, the companies said in a statement.

White Castle first announced its pilot with Flippy in July as COVID-19 was beginning to spread around the country, presenting risks for kitchen staff and customers alike.

What Robots Can Do for Retail
Robots have rolled into retail, from six-foot-tall free-moving machines spotting spills in Giant Foods Stores to autonomous shelf-scanners checking inventory in Walmart . At Lowe's, the home improvement chain, a " LoweBot " in some stores can answer simple questions, such as where to find items, and can assist with inventory monitoring. These robots free up workers from routine tasks, presumably giving humans more time for customer interaction — but that's only the beginning.
Are AI Robots Manipulating Our Behavior? | designnews.com
Several years ago – shortly after Softbank took control of Arm – the SoftBank Robotics America company created and deployed "Pepper." This four-foot-tall robot came equipped with artificial intelligence and facial recognition software so it could understand human feelings and interact with passengers at airports.

This was roughly the essence of a talk at the recent Arm DevSummit . Andra Keay, Managing Director of Silicon Valley Robotics, shared her insights in a presentation entitled, "AI's Effect on The Five Laws of Robotics." She explained that, since Asimov's Three (plus 0) Laws of Robots, there have been hundreds of ethical guidelines developed by well-meaning groups and global initiatives.

Robust.AI closes Series A funding to develop cognitive engine for robots
Robust.AI, which has been developing “the world’s first industrial-grade cognitive engine for robots,” announced today the close of a $15 million Series A investment round. The Palo Alto, Calif.-based startup said its approach to artificial intelligence is innovative and will enable robots to operate better in human-centric environments.
Leading scientists and technologists founded Robust.AI in 2019. Historically, robots have largely been confined to highly predictable environments, said the company . It aims to change that by creating a new cognitively driven AI platform that gives robots the problem-solving capabilities they need to work alongside humans in dynamic, open-ended environments, vastly increasing their potential in complex public spaces.
White Castle Plans To Use Flippy The Robot In More Locations
When you order French fries or onion rings at one of 10 White Castle locations, a robot may help prepare the food. White Castle announced it is expanding the use of Flippy Robot-on-a-Rail (ROAR) to more locations in the United States. The decision came after the company successfully tested the autonomous grilling and frying kitchen assistant in one restaurant.
Miso Robotics, the creator of Flippy ROAR, explains that the robot can glide across multiple workstations on a rail, which makes it easy to store and use. Flippy ROAR relies on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to cook food in a restaurant. It can identify both the temperature and type of food it is cooking.

Spot Robot Dog Surveys Radiation at Chernobyl | Inspection Robots
That way, his team can design new sensors, and therefore better robotic platforms, to autonomously survey nuclear plants.
After those tests, which covered the four miles of forest surrounding the nuclear power plant—known as the "Red Forest"—the team identified new radioactive hotspots that were previously unknown to local officials. Presumably, Spot's job is to find more of these dangerous locations.
It's not clear how long Spot will be investigating the grounds in and around Chernobyl, but if the robot dog's many and varied jobs to date serve as any kind of indicator, this certainly won't be its last dance with the nuclear energy industry.
