UFO spotted over Hawaii likely spent rocket | University of Hawaiʻi System News

Thousands were mesmerized by a mysterious flurry of lights that appeared to float across Hawaiʻi's evening sky on Saturday, October 24. Photos and videos of the string of lights flooded social media, leaving many to believe the sighting could be anything from a spaceship carrying extra terrestrials to a meteor shower.

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Institute for Astronomy Professor Richard Wainscoat believes onlookers witnessed the reentry of a spent rocket booster used to launch Venezualan satellite, Venesat-1, back in 2008. The used rocket has been circling Earth since the launch, slowly losing altitude due to friction with the tenuous atmosphere in low-Earth orbit. On Saturday, the booster made its final orbits.

10 Haunted Roads in the U.S.

There are eerie stories about roads across Connecticut, including Jeremy Swamp Road in Southbury. According to an urban legend, drivers in stalled vehicles on this road have vanished before their tow truck arrives, attacked by the “Melon Heads.” These humanoid cryptids are also the focus of folklore in Ohio and Michigan.

The tri-county truck stop located off historic Route 66 in Villa Ridge has been abandoned for years, but ghost hunters continue to visit in hopes of experiencing the paranormal. According to Commercial Truck Trader, “Visiting mediums have suggested the truck stop is a portal to the other side of eternity, where souls reenter our world and attach their spirits to truckers whom they might possess in order to drive themselves home.”

'Strange' UFO spotted at Southend - Campbeltown Courier

An unidentified flying object (UFO) over Southend left the man who spotted it feeling ‘very strange’.

The man, an elderly Southend resident, said the sighting from Kiel on October 13 was not prolonged and the apparent movement of the phenomenon couldn’t confirm whether it was several lighted objects or just one object with multiple lights.

He added: ‘We were watching seals on Kiel beach when suddenly I noticed a line of lights, low down but very intense. I’m not particularly a believer in [extra-terrestrial] UFOs but watching those lights made me feel very strange.’

'It's not a question of belief': the film examining government UFO records | Film | The Guardian

Numerous experts and astrophysicists have cautioned that just because an object is unidentified or unexplained doesn't mean it's extraterrestrial; some of the unexplained incidents could be attributed to bugs in display systems' code, atmospheric effects, and neurological overload during high-speed flight as much if not more than extraterrestrial contact.

The Phenomenon plumbs that unexplained terrain with years of first-person accounts, from an old interview with the late astronaut Gordon Cooper, who recalled his own brush with an unexplained object while flying fighters in Germany in 1951, to audio footage of former president Gerald Ford who, as a congressman from Michigan, desired greater transparency on UFO research.
