The Quadrantids shower, named after the former constellation Quadrans Muralis, originates not from a comet but an asteroid — specifically, the 2003 EHI asteroid, which takes 5.52 years to orbit the sun, according to NASA.

NASA has made clear its long-term human spaceflight aspirations in recent years. The agency’s Artemis campaign will fly a series of crewed missions to the Moon that will become increasingly ambitious: larger crews, longer stays, and more infrastructure.

There are alternative concepts, though, for human spaceflight beyond Earth. SpaceX and its founder, Elon Musk, have advocated going directly to Mars with its Starship vehicle, getting there far earlier than NASA’s plans.
