Monument Health doctor performs 1,500th surgery using robots

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - It's one thing for a doctor to perform surgery but to be assisted by a robot, that's another story.
Robotic-assisted surgeries have become increasingly popular and Dr. Robert Santa-Cruz, a urologist with Monument Health, performed his 1,500-surgery using the Da Vinci robotic surgery platform. 500 of those have been since joining Monument Health in 2019.
U of I researchers build robots to help elderly
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – U of I researchers are creating robots to help older adults with physical and mental disabilities.
The U of I is partnering with Hello Robot to bridge the gap between caregivers and those who need help.
“In some ways, the robot is this wedge that supports that balance between the care partner and the recipient. And kind of reducing that amount of stress in some ways,” Hello Robots OT Clinical Research Lead Vy Nguyen said.

Grubhub-linked robots to start food deliveries at Baylor University
A Starship robot stamped with Grubhub's logo maps out the Baylor University campus this week. Students, faculty and staff will be able to order food from seven on-campus restaurants for delivery by a fleet of 20 of the robots.
Baylor students' meal plans will work with the autonomous delivery service. The Starship robots travel at about 4 mph, have an array of sensors that help them navigate and have enough battery power for a day of deliveries.
