A 'Planet Nine' could explain oddities of icy bodies past Neptune | Space

As the search for "Planet Nine " in the outer solar system continues, new research suggests there may be an Earth twin buried deep within the frozen waste of the Kuiper Belt beyond Neptune.

Astronomers struggle to explain all of the properties of trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), which are generally small, icy bodies that orbit the sun beyond the orbit of Neptune, generally with orbits greater than 30 astronomical units (AU).

Could we tweak the solar system to make Pluto a planet again? | New Scientist

Pluto's back, baby! Seventeen years after it was demoted from planet to dwarf planet , it is time for Pluto to retake its former title…at least according to our hosts, Chelsea Whyte and Leah Crane.

Of the requirements to officially be a planet, the one Pluto misses out on is the ability to clear its orbital path of debris: the distant little world is just not big enough to sweep away all the other rocks in its orbit. So what if it were bigger?

After starting UCLA's cannabis club, she unexpectedly became a weed whisperer for Gen Z

"Welcome to Dabby Hour IRL!" says Maha Haq to the 50 or so pot people in the room. Some respond with hoots, others clap their encouragement. A few pause mid-hit and silently tilt their pipes or vaporizers in her direction in acknowledgment.

Like streaking comets across the inky black sky, they've chanced into the gravitational pull of a brightly burning star and found themselves locked in her orbit.

OSIRIS-Rex's Dante Lauretta shares final preparations for Sept. 24 asteroid-sample return | Space

A NASA spacecraft is nearing Earth in express delivery mode. Indeed, it's a "stone's throw" type of mission — one hauling extraterrestrial freight from a space rock deemed a possible security risk to Earth.

Launched in September 2016, NASA's Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, and Security-Regolith Explorer ( OSIRIS-REx ) spacecraft is toting a collection of asteroid bits and pieces.

"Brainless" Soft Robots Wriggle Out Of A Maze With No Help From Humans | IFLScience

The clever asymmetrical design, with one half more twisty than the other, is a big part of the secret to these robots' success.

You might think the above image shows a couple of pieces of string, but these unassuming little things are so much more than that. They're actually robots , created without "brains" or computerized intelligence, but capable of wiggling their way out of some very complex spaces.

Your guide to the basics of UFOs, UAPs and interstellar alien intelligence

Space is big and it can take decades or longer to travel between solar systems. So if aliens came to visit Earth, they might travel between dimensions instead.

At present, U.S. government officials in both executive and legislative branches have acknowledged the existence of UAP and UAP-related government programs, but remain widely divided on the specific nature of the phenomena.

Here's What Starfield's Solar System Looks Like Compared to the Real Thing - IGN

Bethesda's leviathan space adventure Starfield is out in the wild, and players are busy exploring the countless planets and stars that populate the sprawling RPG.

Of course, Bethesda's imagining of the solar system is not meant to be a carbon copy of the one we inhabit today.

Earth's altered appearance stands in stark contrast to the rest of the solar system, which has seemingly continued on regardless in the wake of humanity's exodus.

Brainless Robots Navigate Mazes - Neuroscience News

Summary: Researchers designed a “brainless” soft robot that can autonomously navigate through complex environments using physical intelligence.

Unlike their previous model, which could only turn upon encountering obstacles, this robot can turn on its own. This unique movement is due to an asymmetrical design with one half exerting more force on the ground.
