Work of iconic artist Keith Haring makes splash at Akron Art Museum

When artist Keith Haring created chalk drawings in New York subway stations early in his career in the 1980s, he never signed them. Even so, New Yorkers quickly recognized his distinctive style.

Haring saw artmaking as a communal activity, a performance that he wanted crowds to watch. Today, millions of people around the world instantly recognize Haring's iconic figures, including outlines of dancing figures, barking dogs and crawling babies.

Hubble telescope captures enigmatic planet getting the 'hiccups'

A young planet, situated approximately 32 light-years from Earth, has been exhibiting dynamic changes in its atmosphere during each revolution around its parent star.

The observations indicated that the host star's ferocious stellar winds were stripping the planet's hydrogen atmosphere.

Ancient star that crashed hot young star party could solve cosmic mystery | Space

The interloper was found in a star-forming region located around 2,350 light-years from Earth called NGC2264. While such star intruders have been observed before, the mixing of an old star and a grouping of young stars was unexpected. This is something scientists previously thought not to happen.

Can 2 planets share an orbit? New image points to yes

Astronomers have long thought that two planets could share an orbit. The idea is sometimes seen in science fiction.

The large golden ring is a disk of material out of which the planets are forming. The star – at the center of the ring – is called PDS 70. And one of the objects in orbit is most certainly a planet. It’s called PDS 70b. The 2nd object might be a cloud of debris .

Robots teaching other robots – it's no longer science fiction • Earth.com

In a world where everyone holds their unique area of expertise, the exchange of knowledge can be an enlightening experience. This got researchers pondering — can the same principle be applied to machines, with robots teaching other robots?

Take for instance a poker pro, a connoisseur of French cuisine, and a Mozart aficionado. When these three combine their knowledge, they learn something new from each other and walk away richer in wisdom than before.

Dramatic Flyby Confirms That Mercury's Radioactive Aurora Touches the Ground | Discover ...

Earth's beautiful, neon-colored aurorae occur when charged particles from the sun (the solar wind) collide with the planet's outer atmosphere, called the ionosphere.

New research released by the Europlanet Society details the cause behind an even stranger aurora, the one that regularly wreathes Mercury with X-rays. This aurora arises from the planet's surface, not its upper atmosphere, for reasons described in a new paper .

Yes, two planets really can share the same orbit - Big Think

If two planets pass closely by one another in orbit, one can perturb the other, resulting in a massive orbital change. These two planets could collide, one of them could get ejected, or one could even get hurled into their central star.

This last definition, strictly speaking, rules out two planets sharing the same orbit, since the orbit wouldn’t be considered “cleared” if there were two of them.

A SpaceX rocket is set to launch the spacecraft to the Main Asteroid Belt between Mars and Jupiter.

The space agency's Jet Propulsion Lab said it had recently completed a comprehensive test of the flight software and installed it on the spacecraft. That cleared a key hurdle that caused the probe to miss its original 2022 launch date.

NASA thinks space is teeming with rogue planets | Mashable

But there’s another category of planets — one that probably eluded your teacher — that only partially meets that definition. Over the years, scientists have found worlds that appear to aimlessly wander space alone, called rogue planets.

The team believes our galaxy holds 20 times more rogue planets than stars — that's trillions of starless space nomads.

"Surprise" discovery: 37 swarming boulders spotted near asteroid hit by NASA spacecraft last year ...

A recent experiment gave NASA scientists a closer look at how attempting to redirect or destroy asteroids approaching Earth could lead to even more projectiles.

That led to the 2022 DART, or Double Asteroid Redirection Test. Conducted on Sept.

Scientists were surprised to see that several dozen boulders lifted off the asteroid after it was hit, which NASA said in a news release "might mean that smacking an Earth-approaching asteroid might result in a cluster of threatening boulders heading in our direction."

We Just Got The First Evidence of Two Planets Sharing The Same Orbit : ScienceAlert

The Solar System is a fairly tidy place. Each planet stays in its lane, at its own orbital distance from the Sun, minding its own business.

Most planetary systems we've found out there in the wider galaxy also seem to follow this trend.

"Two decades ago, it was predicted in theory that pairs of planets of similar mass may share the same orbit around their star, the so-called Trojan or co-orbital planets.
