NASA spacecraft captures one of the brightest stars in night sky | Science-Environment

Late last month, the high-resolution camera onboard NASA's Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft snapped Vega, one of the brightest stars in the night sky and one of the solar system's closest neighbours at just 25 light-years.

In this black and white image captured by the Didymos Reconnaissance and Asteroid Camera for Optical navigation (DRACO), a distinctly bright spot is visible in the distance. The six spikes around Vega result from light bouncing off of the structure that holds the camera's second mirror in place.

Newly discovered star system contains 2 Earthlike planets | Space

A planetary system with two Earthlike planets has been discovered only 33 light-years away from us.

This exciting solar system is one of the nearest to Earth and was spotted by NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) in October 2021.

In fact, one of those two planets, called HD 260655b, about 1.2 times as big as Earth, takes only 2.8 days to orbit its star. The other, HD 260655c, which is 1.5 times Earth's size, needs 5.7 days to complete one orbit.

"Earth-like" planets discovered in nearby star system | fox43.com

NASA scientists just confirmed the existence of two "Earth-like" planets just 33 light years away from the Milky Way System.

The discovery was first noticed by NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) in October of 2021. However, it took several months for scientists to confirm that the occasional dips in the star's brightness were caused by orbiting planets.
