Scientists discover 'super Jupiter' orbiting white dwarf - Hindustan Times

Space scientists have discovered a 'super Jupiter' orbiting a white dwarf, detected using direct observations of the European Space Agency (ESA)'s Gaia mission.

The discovery forms part of a treasure trove of data made available in Gaia's Data Release 3, which provides the most detailed survey of our galactic neighbourhood to date.

Two new worlds of probable rocky mineral goodness have just been found orbiting a star close to our own cosmic neighborhood.

The two newly discovered exoplanets are what are known as super-Earths – bigger than Earth, but smaller than an ice giant – orbiting a cool red dwarf star called HD 260655, which is just 33 light-years away.

2 Earthlike planets spotted in newly discovered nearby star system

A planetary system with two Earthlike planets has been discovered only 33 light-years away from us.

This exciting solar system is one of the nearest to Earth and was spotted by NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) in October 2021.

Astronomers find a new planetary system close to Earth and are 'optimistic' there will be ...

The system, now the closest known one to Earth, has two terrestrial planets orbiting a cool M-dwarf star, named HD 260655.

The inner planet, HD 260655b, orbits the star every 2.8 days and is about 1.2 times as big as the Earth but is slightly denser, while the outer planet, HD 260655c, orbits every 5.7 days and is 1.5 times as big as the Earth, but is less dense.

Astronomers reveal the most detailed map of the asteroid Psyche yet | Ars Technica

Astronomers have produced the most detailed map to date of the surface of 16-Psyche, an asteroid that scientists believe could hold clues to how planets formed in our Solar System.

As we've reported previously , 16 Psyche is an M-type asteroid (meaning it has high metallic content) orbiting the Sun in the main asteroid belt, with an unusual potato-like shape.
