The Building Blocks of Earth Could Have Come From Farther out in the Solar System - Universe Today

Earth formed over 4.5 billion years ago via accretion . Earth’s building blocks were chunks of rock of varying sizes. From dust to planetesimals and everything in between.

But some evidence doesn’t line up well behind that conclusion. A new study says that some of the Earth-forming meteorites came from much further out in the Solar System.

LETTER: It's not fair to ask me to pay for your solar panel hobby

For starters, the notion that the rooftop solar industry is dominated by small mom-and-pop businesses does not pass the red face test. Each rooftop installation involves financing about $40,000 for the homeowner. There are already hundreds of installations.

Net metering, the focus of the current argument, is a huge win for the solar companies and a loss for those not jumping on the band wagon. Subsidies through tax credits and transfer of costs to ratepayers without solar systems is the only reason a rooftop solar system makes sense economically.
