Pennsylvania receiving $1.5 million federal grant to fight spotted lanternfly | WWLP

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — The United States Department of Agriculture is giving Pennsylvania an additional $1.5 million to fight spotted lanternflies through the Plant Protection Act.

“The spotted lanternfly is still considered an agricultural emergency,” said Shannon Powers, press secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

“The lantern flies feed on the grape vines and then that leaves them vulnerable to winter temperatures,” said Emelie Swackhamer, horticulture educator, PennState Extension.

Number of UFO sightings in Northern Ireland rose in 2020 | UTV | ITV News

Potential sightings of UFOs, including a man who said he had been delivered to Bangor Marina by extraterrestrials, were made to the PSNI this year.

Five other reported sightings across Lisburn, Bangor and Belfast were made in 2020, a figure which rose from four reports in 2019.

The first report came on March 13, according to data acquired by the PA news agency using the Freedom of Information Act.

In that call, there was a report of a UFO "with many flashing lights making no noise" hovering in the skies above Dunmurray on the outskirts of Lisburn for around 30 minutes.

UFO spotted over Hawaii likely spent rocket | University of Hawaiʻi System News

Thousands were mesmerized by a mysterious flurry of lights that appeared to float across Hawaiʻi's evening sky on Saturday, October 24. Photos and videos of the string of lights flooded social media, leaving many to believe the sighting could be anything from a spaceship carrying extra terrestrials to a meteor shower.

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Institute for Astronomy Professor Richard Wainscoat believes onlookers witnessed the reentry of a spent rocket booster used to launch Venezualan satellite, Venesat-1, back in 2008. The used rocket has been circling Earth since the launch, slowly losing altitude due to friction with the tenuous atmosphere in low-Earth orbit. On Saturday, the booster made its final orbits.
