Weird, cute and vaguely menacing: Here come the robots of CES 2021 - CNET

From the cuddly to the imposing to the absolutely giant, these are the robots of the all-virtual CES 2021 . Whether its the cute Moflin, the C-3PO-like Bot Handy or the poop-avoiding Jetbot (above) these are the best robots from the show so far.

Like an 80s sci-fi movie, this menacing robot monitors the halls of darkened workplaces -- but in the case of the Cloi UV-C, it's stamping out germs.

Samsung has a bumper crop of robots at CES, including the 2021 version of R2-D2 and C-3PO: Bot Care (left) and Bot Handy. The Bot Care is a "personal assistant robot" while the Bot Care is a bit more "hands-on".

This year's crop of robots at CES 2021 is all about fighting COVID-19 - TechRepublic

The Unipin UV-C Robot ID2 uses UV light to disinfect indoor spaces and can clean 1000 square meters in about 100 minutes.

The world has turned upside down enough that the robots are coming to save us, not take over the world. Vendors at CES 2021 are showing off rolling cleaning machines that can disinfect public spaces. Companies are also promoting smart devices and even product coatings to keep germs at bay in the air and on surfaces.

Gartner analyst Jonathan Davenport said that companies have been building pulsed xenon ultraviolet (UV) light technology into simple robots to disinfect surfaces for years, but COVID-19 has seen demand leap substantially. Automating the cleaning process improves consistency and complements the cleaning staff, he said.

Global AGV (Automated Guided Vehicles) and AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robots) Market Forecast to

AGV vs AMR

In our study, we have considered Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) where movement is highly structured and monolithic in static environment with the help of magnetic strips or wires. If there is any obstacle in the path then it has to be removed to make AGV in motion again. Re-deployment of guided technology like magnetic strips or wires is required with an additional cost if there is a change in the facility like renovation, upgrade or change in location.

UBTech launches UV light disinfecting robots – TechCrunch

UBTech is the massively funded Chinese robotics company you've (probably) never heard of. If you're familiar at all with the brand here in the states, it’s likely for its STEM or other robotic toys, including a Star Wars Storm Trooper robot from a few years back (my own first exposure to the company). But with around $940 million in funding , it seems the sky's the limit, in terms of product expansion.

Among its announcements at CES today is the arrival of a line of UV-C disinfecting robots. The need is certainly clear, following the events of the past 12 months. In fact, UBTech isn’t even the first company to introduce a UV robot for the show — that distinction falls to LG , which is set to offer its own solution this year.

Dancing Boston Dynamics robots are impressive showcase of robot capabilities | ASU Now: Access,

To kick off the new year, Boston Dynamics posted a video of four robots doing a choreographed dance to the Contours' "Do You Love Me." It's garnered about 25 million views on the YouTube channel alone.

In a time when we all need something to smile about, the dancers have inspired lot of guessing about how the choreography was accomplished.

It wasn't CGI, as many viewers speculated. And it wasn't the hand-coding of traditional robot programs, either.
