NASA scientists discovered the asteroid in March. The asteroid, the size of a football field, is expected to be closest to Earth by May 4.
NASA estimates that the asteroid will have an area of 260 to 580 meters. They named it AF8. Although the smallest of all the asteroids that have ever landed on Earth, the speed at which it travels is said to be dangerous. They say speeds of 9 kilometers per second are not normal.
Scientists estimate that the asteroid may have traveled as far as 3.4 million kilometers from Earth. However, they are examining this asteroid very carefully. This is because it is thought to be an asteroid that is detrimental to Earth.

China's Orbiting Mars Probe Reveals Ghostly Images of Mars
- NASA's Perseverance isn't the only spacecraft getting an up-close look at the red planet. Prepping for its rover landing in May, China's orbiting Tianwen-1 probe has sent back images of a crescent Mars looming in the void of space. The photos were taken over the northern and southern hemispheres from the planet's far side, some 7,000 miles from the surface.
Taking advantage of the same launch window, the UAE's Hope orbiter also arrives at the red planet in February.

Sierra Nevada, the company aiming to launch and land its Dream Chaser spaceplane on the Space Coast, unveiled its take on an Earth-orbiting space station this week, joining a series of others aiming to find alternatives to the aging International Space Station, reports News 6 partner Florida Today.
Renderings released by the Colorado-based company show a low-orbit station comprised of several inflatable modules, each 27 feet in length, flanked by Dream Chaser mini-shuttles. Inflatable fabric habitats are generally more compact and lighter than traditional space structures and can fly on many different vehicles.

All those satellites flew into orbit on SpaceX’s own Falcon 9 rockets from Florida’s Space Coast.
“We do have global reach but we don't have full connectivity globally,” Shotwell said. “We hope after about 28 launches, we'll have continuous coverage throughout the globe. And then the plan after that is to continue to add satellites to provide additional capacity.”
SpaceX said the change in altitude would reduce latency of internet signals and allow the company to build out its network more quickly. The company pitched the proposed change as also enabling improved internet connectivity over polar regions, a capability desired by the U.S. military, and reducing the risk that dead or failed satellites might become a long-term source of space junk.
Satellite measures record-cold cloud temperature of minus-168 degrees - The Washington Post
On Dec. 29, 2018, a weather satellite peering down over the Pacific spotted a cluster of towering thunderheads with extremely cold cloud tops. A recently released study confirms one of the clouds was measured at minus-168 degrees Fahrenheit, establishing a record for the coldest cloud-top temperature reliably measured globally.
For comparison, that's almost 40 degrees colder than the lowest temperature ever measured on Earth's surface — minus-129.3 degrees in Antarctica in 1983. The coldest reading obtained in North America was minus-81 degrees, measured in Canada's Yukon Territory in 1947.
