Coldplay launches a new single in space
Coldplay have launched their new single Higher Power on board the International Space Station (ISS) with the help of French astronaut Thomas Pesquet.
Mr Pesquet was sent a special performance of Higher Power featuring dancing alien holograms to give the track its first play after midnight on board the station.
The award-winning band, fronted by Chris Martin, also joined the 43-year-old aerospace engineer for a chat via video call.
European astronaut Thomas Pesquet premieres Cold Play's new song from space
European Space Agency astronaut Thomas Pesquet took a song drop to a new level 200 miles above Earth, helping Cold Play debut its new single this week from his orbiting outpost.
Pesquet, who happens to be an amateur saxophone player, chatted with the bandmates of Cold Play from the International Space Station cupola before the out-of-this-world debut. He showed off some views of the Dragon spacecraft docked outside and answered some questions from the band.
Jefferson Educational Society to begin Global Summit series Monday
The Jefferson Educational Society's Global Summit XII, which starts Monday and lasts through May 27, has pooled together a bevy of national and international thought leaders, scholars and writers for its annual Erie forum.
The May summit will be highlighted by speakers such as pandemic experts Leana Wen, M.D., and Michael Saag, M.D.; astronomer Avi Loeb; and authors and media experts David Ignatius, Susan Page, Karen Tumulty, April Ryan, James Fallows and Deborah Fallows.

The lights appeared to be moving in a straight line, sort of like someone pulling a string through the sky.
As they were in February, Hill Air Force Base’s 388th Fighter Wing is conducting night flight training. But, when asked about the lights, they told ABC4 it wasn’t them.
A website recommended for tracking SpaceX satellites says they were traveling through the Salt Lake City area shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday night. The site reports that satellites were likely visible again early Thursday morning.

NMSU professor's research on how planets form
LAS CRUCES - A three-year program at New Mexico State University, funded through the National Science Foundation and NASA, will allow astronomy assistant professor Wladimir Lyra to create a roadmap of planet formation using supercomputers.
"This investigation will use powerful computers to produce simulations of planet formation and compare the results with modern observations," said Lyra. "This research will be able to decide which models are more likely to account for planet formation."
Wine that went to space for sale with $1 million price tag
Christie's said Tuesday it is selling a bottle of French wine that spent more than a year in orbit aboard the International Space Station. The auction house thinks a wine connoisseur might pay as much as $1 million to own it.
The Pétrus 2000 is one of 12 bottles sent into space in November 2019 by researchers exploring the potential for extraterrestrial agriculture. It returned 14 months later subtly altered, according to wine experts who sampled it at a tasting in France.
