There can be no mistake, interest in asteroids has never been greater. In the next three years alone, five new asteroid missions will be launched by NASA and ESA.
The programme focuses on telling the remarkable stories of asteroids and the people that research them.

Asteroid Believed to Be Worth ... May Actually Just Be an Ordinary Rock
Researchers at the University of Arizona have found out that the origin of an asteroid, 16 Psyche, could be very different from what it was originally believed to be.
The research was conducted by an undergraduate student of the university, David Cantillo, which has been published in the peer-reviewed journal The Planetary Science.
Boltysh Impact dated to within 650,000 years of the Chicxulub asteroid
Blazing out of the primeval sky to eradicate the dinosaurs 66 million years ago , a 6.2-mile wide, extinction-level asteroid collided with Earth near the tiny town of Chicxulub in modern-day Mexico.
A second, lesser-known space rock that landed in the Ukraine called the Boltysh Impact was originally thought to have occurred several thousand years prior to Chicxulub, and the cause and effect of both asteroids together on the climate has been debated for decades.
Asteroid bigger than a passenger plane due for a close approach with Earth | Science | News |
An asteroid that has been dubbed 2021 LV2 will pass Earth in the coming days. The asteroid in question is around 100 feet (30 metres) in length. This puts it at a similar size to a passenger plane, and larger than the biggest organism on Earth, the blue whale.
The asteroid is travelling through the solar system at a staggering 7.4 kilometres per second or 26,000 kilometres per hour.
16 Psyche asteroid once thought to be worth $10,000 quadrillion is just a pile of debris, reveals
Researchers at the University of Arizona discovered that the origin of the asteroid 16 Psyche is very different from what it was originally believed to be.
Earlier, it was predicted that 16 Psyche is a rocky core of a small planet that could not form in the initial days of the solar system. Also, it was believed that the rock could contain 95 per cent metal, which made it a denser body full of iron, nickel and gold.
Massive comet to fly by Saturn in 2031 | Science | AAAS
While scanning the sky for dark energy and objects in the outer Solar System, astronomers this month uncovered a massive comet that will knock on Saturn's front door in the next decade , New Scientist reports.
Indian Citizen Scientists Discover Four Near-Earth Asteroids During NASA Program
A six-member team of Indian citizen scientists discovered four new near-earth asteroids during an asteroid search training program conducted with the collaboration of NASA, International Astronomical Search Cooperation and Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Science
Indian scientists discover four near-Earth asteroids in NASA-backed research programme, Science
Essentially frozen rocks, near-Earth asteroids are objects that come in proximity to Earth due to their orbits
A team of Indian scientists recently discovered four new near-Earth asteroids during a search training programme overseen by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
