Missouri S&T professor improving robots' brains | STLPR

A researcher at Missouri University of Science and Technology is working on making robots smarter, and the technology could end up in autonomous driving cars, search and rescue equipment or military weapons.

Electrical engineering professor Jagannathan Sarangapani said one of the major constraints on robots that act on their own is that they're limited to seeing things in two dimensions.

How to Prevent Mass Extinction in the Ocean With AI, Robots, and 3D Printers

The ocean is the most defining physical feature of Earth, covering 71 percent of the surface of this planet . It is home to incredible biodiversity , ranging from microscopic bacteria and viruses to the largest animal on Earth, the blue whale.

The stakes for ocean biodiversity have never been higher than they are this decade, and now more than ever, we need results. A widely promoted target is to bring 30 percent of marine area under protection by 2030 – a major step that will contribute a great deal to marine biodiversity.

Soft robots can work for oil spill remediation - Digital Journal

A new innovation has been attracting interest. This is the use of light-powered soft robots, where studies have been taking place aimed at removing oil spills. The robots have been inspired by water striders (neustons) and steam engines to fabricate the prototype devices.

The researchers, from University of California – Riverside, have the idea of using a floating, robotic film that could be trained to remove oil spills at sea or remove contaminants from drinking water.

The Matrix Resurrections reveals a surprising truth about robots

The Matrix has always been a story of conflict. Man vs. Machine. Neo vs. Agent Smith. But in The Matrix Resurrections , returning director Lana Wachowski wonders what would happen if those two opposing sides put down their weapons and worked together — sort of.

Don't worry, The Matrix Resurrections is still full of stylish kung fu action and mind-bending bullet-time sequences, but the new sequel also posits a surprising series of events following the ending of the original trilogy. And it turns out, they're not too far off from our own reality.
