UK Police Data Leaked to Dark Web; Russian Hackers Hold 13 Million Records to Ransom - CPO

After an apparent refusal to pay a ransom demand, Russian hackers have leaked a sampling of 13 million records of UK police data to the dark web in retaliation.

The records were stolen from a police contractor, and the Russian hackers released just a small portion of what they stole but have threatened to release more if their demands continue to be rebuffed.

Hackers in Cox Communications Data Breach Impersonated Company's Support Agent to Access Customer

Atlanta-based digital cable television, internet, and phone services provider Cox Communications has disclosed a data breach that exposed customer information.

Cox said it learned on October 11, 2021, that a hacker impersonated a support agent and gained access to some customers’ personal information.

Hackers use AnyDesk in safe mode to launch attacks: Report

New Delhi: Sophos, a global leader in cybersecurity, on Monday revealed that hackers attempted to bypass security controls by using a combination of Windows Safe Mode and the AnyDesk remote administration tool.

Windows Safe Mode is an IT support method for resolving IT issues that disables most security and IT administration tools, while AnyDesk provides continuous remote access.
