A fresh assessment of a distantly risky asteroid brings good news: it's even less of a threat than astronomers had feared.
The chances of an asteroid dubbed 1950 DA crashing into Earth were always tiny and long in the future: As of 2015, scientists had calculated that the object had a 1 in 8,000 chance of impacting Earth in the year 2880.
Yes, an Asteroid the Size of a House Passed Earth This Week | Snopes.com
On March 28, 2022, an asteroid approximately the size of a house passed Earth safely, which is hardly an event worthy of headlines — except in this case the space rock was closer to us than the moon.

According to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory by NASA, these five asteroids are named 2022 FQ, 2016 GW221, 2022 FE2, 2021 GN1 and 2022 FJ1.
Asteroid 2022 FQ is a 37 meters wide asteroid and its closest approach to the Earth will be at 3,070,000 kilometers. The 2016 GW221 is the largest asteroid to fly by the Earth today at 40 meters wide, and it will pass the Earth at a distance of 3,740,000 kilometers.

Our problem here on planet Earth is that we are sitting ducks for some as yet undiscovered or unseen space rock to impact the surface. Where the impact occurs is the deciding factor as to how cataclysmic it might be.
At present time, there are no less than 1,800 space objects that carry the label NEOA (Near Earth Orbit Asteroid) and there is not a single astronomer or scientist who can predict when an asteroid will get here. The only thing of which they are certain is that it IS going to happen.
