The Tallest Mountain in the Solar System Is Much Higher Than Everest | HowStuffWorks

There's nothing quite like reaching the peak of a mountain and looking down in awe at the landscape below as you catch your breath.

While summiting Mount Everest is certainly impressive, the highest mountain on Earth is in fact one of the smaller mountains in our solar system – and it isn't even the tallest mountain on our planet, depending on how you measure it! So, what is the tallest mountain in the solar system?

Researchers explore historical Hubble datasets to understand the solar system

An international team of astronomers has run archival observations collected by the Nasa/ESA Hubble Space Telescope of 25 "hot Jupiter" exoplanets – bodies that orbit stars far beyond our solar system – using GPU-based acceleration from Nvidia.

The researchers have now published a paper based on surveys of the 25 exoplanets using what is believed to be the most data ever employed in a survey of such bodies – 1,000 hours of archival observations, mainly from the Hubble Space Telescope.

Scientists model landscape formation on Titan | Stanford News

A new hypothesis reveals that a global sedimentary cycle driven by seasons could explain the formation of landscapes on Saturn's moon Titan. The research shows the alien world may be more Earth-like than previously thought.

Saturn's moon Titan looks very much like Earth from space, with rivers, lakes, and seas filled by rain tumbling through a thick atmosphere.
