Venus and Jupiter align this week in spectacular morning sky shows | Space

The celestial highlight in the days ahead will involve the three brightest objects in the nighttime sky: the moon and the planets Venus and Jupiter.

On Tuesday morning (April 26), you'll want to be sure to set your alarm. About 45 minutes before sunrise, look low toward the east-southeast horizon.

Scientists Think Planets 'Scream' as They're Ripped Apart

Scientists think that planets "scream" as they get ripped apart and it is so metal AF. Astronomers have just made a discovery about where FRBs (aka the screams) come from and here's what they've found.

Although FRBs, which are milliseconds-long bursts of radio waves were detected in 2007, a discovery about where they may come from was made during a recent study at Nanjing University in China.

Which Planets Have Rings? - WorldAtlas

Any discussion on rings must begin with Saturn. After all, Saturn's rings were the first to be discovered, and most of what is known about rings in the solar system comes from Saturn.

Most of what is known about Saturn's rings comes from the four robotic missions that have successfully visited Saturn up-close. In 1979, Pioneer 11 became the first mission to Saturn and offered scientists the very first up-close images of Saturn and its rings.

How Pluto walks a tightrope between a stable and chaotic orbit | Space

Pluto is lucky to exist in the orbit that it does, according to new computer simulations that show how the dwarf planet skirts near a chaotic orbit that could potentially destroy the beloved world.

The former ninth planet, now considered a dwarf planet, has an unusual orbit that is highly elongated and tilted with respect to the orbits of the planets. For 20 years of its 248-year journey around the sun, Pluto actually moves inside Neptune 's orbit.

The Only Planet That Rotates Clockwise - WorldAtlas

An interesting fact about the solar system is that all the planets, with one exception, rotate counterclockwise. The reason behind their consistent behavior is fairly simple.

After it formed, Venus likely rotated counterclockwise like all the other planets. It simply would not have been possible for Venus to rotate clockwise after its formation, given the rotation of the protoplanetary disk it formed in.

Mysterious 'glue' holds planets, galaxies together.

The world's most powerful particle accelerator that discovered the "God particle" is now hunting for what physicists call the ''glue" that holds our solar system, galaxies, and clusters of galaxies together — dark matter.

After remaining shut for over three years, the cathedral of physics is now open and 'pilgrims' are flocking to it from the world over.

What are the oldest objects in the universe? Ancient stars, planets, and galaxies explained

Astronomy is like a t ime machine in that we can look at events that happened billions of years ago. By looking at objects from shortly after the Big Bang formed our universe 13.8 billion years ago, we can probe the "origin story" of cosmic things like galaxies, stars, and exoplanets.
