East Texas to experience lunar eclipse Sunday night

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - It's coming, and weather permitting, you'll be able to see it all over East Texas. And, with the help of TJC's Earth and Space Science Center, we got a preview of Sunday night's Blood Moon lunar eclipse.

If you want to see into the astronomical future, well Beau Hartweg, the director of Tyler Junior College's Earth and Space Science Center, is the guy to see. He can show us the Sunday evening sky where there will be quite the event taking place.

Chinese satellite propulsion startup secures funding as country's constellation projects grow ...

HELSINKI — A Chinese satellite electric propulsion company has secured multi-million yuan angel round financing amid a proliferation of Chinese constellation plans.

Kongtian Dongli ("Aerospace propulsion") was established in March 2022. The round was led by Jinshajiang Hongyu and MiraclePlus, according to Chinese media reports .

Huntsville wins space vehicle approval

Huntsville International Airport has become the first commercial airport in the United States to receive a license to land commercial space vehicles.

North Alabama's Huntsville has been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a re-entry site for commercial space vehicles.

Mars helicopter Ingenuity scouts rocky ridge for Perseverance rover | Space

As NASA's Martian helicopter recovers from a communications glitch, data from a past flight is showing a Red Planet ridge in high definition.

"Previous images suggest tilted layers of rock in this area of Mars are uncommon, unlike on Earth, where plate tectonics and earthquakes cause tilting," officials with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), which manages the mission, said of the Ingenuity images on May 3.

Scientists Grow Plants in Moon Soil for the First Time - CNET

Seeds of the plant Arabidopsis thaliana, which is related to mustard greens, were deposited in tiny samples of the regolith collected on three different Apollo missions a half century ago.

"Lunar soils don't have a lot of the nutrients that are needed to support plant growth," Stephen Elardo from the University of Florida said in a press conference Wednesday.

NASA's supersonic X-59 jet comes together in new video | Space

Engineers at Lockheed Martin 's Skunk Works facility in Palmdale talked about the work of the forthcoming quiet supersonic flyer in a new YouTube video , released a few weeks after the jet arrived in April after stress tests in Fort Worth, Texas.

The X-59 supersonic jet video, which Lockheed posted Wednesday (May 10), opens with an incredible timelapse showing the jet coming together within view of a large team of technicians, seeking to make supersonic flight more silent than ever before.
