Nasa's taking UFOs so seriously it's set up a panel of experts to find them

Nasa has organised a first-of-its-kind panel to study 'unidentified aerial phenomena' (UAPs), more commonly known as UFOs.

On Monday, the space agency announced the 16-member panel of experts from scientific fields ranging from physics to astrobiology.

Oct 24 (Reuters) - A first-of-its-kind panel organized by NASA opened a study on Monday of what the government calls "unidentified aerial phenomena," commonly termed UFOs, bringing together experts from scientific fields ranging from physics to astrobiology.

The 16-member panel, convened with little fanfare, will focus its inquiry entirely on unclassified sightings and other data collected from civilian government and commercial sectors, according to NASA.

NASA Team Begins Study of UFOs | Smart News| Smithsonian Magazine

The team includes former NASA astronaut Scott Kelly and science journalist Nadia Drake , as well as scientists who study the shape of the universe, astrobiology, oceanography, black holes, computer engineering and other topics.

The effort is meant to "lay the groundwork for future study on the nature of UAPs for NASA and other organizations," according to the statement.
