TRAPPIST-1 Planets May Be Far More Habitable Than We First Thought

TRAPPIST-1 is a red dwarf star located around 40.7 light years away from our solar system. Four of its seven planets are situated in the Goldilocks zone , which is the band of space around a star where the temperatures enable liquid water to exist on the surface.

"But red dwarf stars are much more volatile than hotter stars like our sun and experience a much higher rate of stellar flares," she said.

Scientists discover a marshmallow-like fluffy planet in deep space | Mashable

Some likely rain gems from metallic clouds . Others may be completely covered in sprawling oceans . And scientists now have a new addition to the planets beyond our solar system, called exoplanets: Meet the "fluffy" world TOI-3757 b.

Weird? Absolutely. But our planet is deeply strange , too. There's no reason to think the universe — a place teeming with hundreds of billions of galaxies that each contain billions of stars and an untold number of planets — wouldn't be, well, otherworldly.

Are UFOs from other planets?

The truth is out there as they used to say on the X-Files and now NASA itself has empowered a 16 member panel to investigate.

"The team will identify how data gathered by civilian government entities, commercial data, and data from other sources can potentially be analyzed to shed light on UAPs (unidentified aerial phenomena, or UFOs)," the agency said.

Asteroid Ryugu was born out in the cold, in the solar system's earliest days | Space

The near-Earth asteroid Ryugu formed far from the sun, in the cold depths of the outer solar system, according to new analysis of samples returned from Ryugu by the Japanese Hayabusa2 mission.

The sample analysis, from a team led by Timo Hopp, a planetary scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Germany, detected surprising abundances of particular isotopes, which are atoms of an element with different numbers of neutrons.

Are Saturn’s rings young, relative to the rest of the solar system? Did they form via the destruction of an icy satellite or comet? Are they a permanent feature of Saturn? Or will they someday cease to be?

The observations provide clues as to the particle size distribution and composition of the rings. And that data in turns lets astronomers deepen their understanding of how the rings formed, as well as what their ultimate fate might be.
