Solar System Evolution and Planet Accretion as Determined by Zirconium Isotopes | Planetary News

When investigating genetic relationships among meteorites and planets, nucleosynthetic isotopes, which formed in the stellar sources that contributed material to the early solar system, can be a powerful tool.

The element zirconium (Zr) may provide new insights into the origin of this dichotomy. Zr has five isotopes, with the neutron-rich 96 Zr being nucleosynthetic. Zirconium is refractory, meaning that it condenses into solids at high temperatures.

IT LOOKS like there is nothing below the thick, hot clouds we are falling through. But descend a little further and the vista opens up to show an ocean as far as the eye can see. Its surface is steaming, feeding water vapour into the sky.

When astronomers began discovering planets outside our solar system in the 1990s, they realised that alien worlds come in an array of orbits, masses, sizes and compositions. These exoplanets couldn’t be placed in simple rocky or gassy groups like those in our solar system.

Solar company declares bankruptcy leaving customers stranded in Anderson County

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Following a tidal wave of complaints, Pink Energy , formerly known as Power Home Solar, has declared bankruptcy liquidation.

This leaves many customers of Pink Energy frustrated. Before the company closed its doors last month , if a problem came up a repairman would be sent. But not now, leaving one Anderson County couple at their wit’s end. The Carvers are now asking who to call when their system goes down.
