A new study from the University of Central Florida has found strong support that the outgassing of molecules from comets could be the result of the composition from the beginning of our solar system.
The study was led by Olga Harrington Pinto, a doctoral candidate in UCF's Department of Physics , part of the College of Sciences .
Cary buys solar system to power wastewater plant
The town of Cary didn't have to look far for a way to reduce the carbon footprint at a municipal wastewater treatment plant.
For nearly a decade, the town leased land at its South Cary Water Reclamation Facility to a company that operated an onsite array of 6,000 solar panels and sold the power generated there to Duke Energy.
Hover Energy’s 36 kW rooftop-mounted microgrid combines wind, solar and energy storage ...
Hover’s first 36 kW installation survived the recent Hurricane Ian storm system that ravaged southwest Florida.
Hover Energy, a Dallas-based wind power technology company, will begin commercial scale production in January 2023 of its residential and commercial 36 kW wind-powered microgrid that includes solar and energy storage. Production will take place the company’s facility in Memphis, Tennessee.
How do you Keep a Solar Sail Stable? - Universe Today
Solar sailing seems like a simple concept – instead of being pushed along by the wind, as in a typical sailing ship, a spacecraft can use highly reflective said to be pushed along simply by sunlight. But as with almost all engineering challenges, that technique is much easier said than done.
Confirmed! A 2014 meteor is Earth's 1st known interstellar visitor | Space
Astronomers have confirmed that a suspicious space rock that hit Earth in 2014 came from another star system, predating the famous interstellar visitor 'Oumuamua by three years.
Researchers found the meteor in the catalog of NASA's Center for Near Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) in 2019. At that time, however, some of the data about the rock's trajectory were kept secret by the U.S. Department of Defence (DoD), whose sensors collected them.
Astronomers Discover Closest Black Hole to Earth | Center for Astrophysics
Cambridge, MA – Astronomers have discovered the closest black hole to Earth, which the researchers have dubbed Gaia BH1.
The discovery was made possible by making exquisite observations of the motion of the black hole's companion, a Sun-like star that orbits the black hole at about the same distance as the Earth orbits the Sun.

ESA is Considering a Mission to Enceladus - Universe Today
Nicknamed Moonraker, presumably after the 1979 Bond film of the same name, the space probe takes its moniker a little more literally. It is designed to “rake” the moon by collecting particles that Cassini found jetting out of the south pole of Enceladus.
The paper detailing the proposal is available on arXiv, and the project was initially proposed in response to ESA’s call for ideas for an M-class mission architecture. M-class missions are the “medium” workhorses of ESA mission infrastructure.
California set to release anti-rooftop solar net metering plan – pv magazine USA
Previous drafts of the plan slashed the value of rooftop solar blaming rich solar-owning Californians for a utility cost shift to less wealthy residents.
In California, there has been a multi-year war waged over the fate of a mechanism called net energy metering (NEM).
