630-foot asteroid careening towards Earth TOMORROW at horrifying 61200 kmph, says NASA
Space is full of several near-Earth objects (NEOs) like asteroids and comets. These objects can be dangerous for Earth, if they are large in size and hit the planet.
The asteroid 2022 UC22 is gigantic at 192 metres or 630 feet (size of a building), and is travelling at a whopping speed of 17.38 kilometres per second or 61200 kmph.

The OSIRIS-REx NASA mission, which is spearheaded by scientists at the University of Arizona's Lunar and Planetary Laboratory (LPL), made history in 2020 when it successfully touched down on an asteroid named Bennu and collected a sample of rock to bring back to Earth for study.

A new study by Virginia Tech geobiologists traces the cause of the first known mass extinction of animals to decreased global oxygen availability, leading to the loss of a majority of animals present near the end of the Ediacaran Period some 550 million years ago.
The research spearheaded by Scott Evans, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Geosciences, part of the Virginia Tech College of Science, shows this earliest mass extinction of about 80 percent of animals across this interval.
