Watch: Four planets dance around their host star for 12 years | Astronomy.com

Fifteen years ago, astronomers captured the first direct image of a multi-planetary system around a normal star. Now, these same planets are starring in their own video.

The new time-lapse shows four giant planets — each one more massive than Jupiter — circling their host star, HR 8799, over the course of the past 12 years. The infrared observations used to create this time-lapse were captured by the Keck Telescope in Hawaii.

Origin Of Water In The Terrestrial Planets: Insights From Meteorite Data And Planet Formation ...

Water condensed as ice beyond the water snowline, the location in the Sun’s natal gaseous disk where temperatures were below 170 K. As the disk evolved and cooled, the snowline moved inwards.

A low temperature in the terrestrial planet-forming region is unlikely to be the origin of water on the planets, and the distinct isotopic compositions of planetary objects formed in the inner and outer disks suggest limited early mixing of inner and outer Solar System materials.

See space in a whole new way: Greenville Symphony performance of 'The Planets'

"The Planets concert is a great opportunity for kids to experience the Greenville Symphony Orchestra for the first time," Taylor Keeter, marketing and communications manager for the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, said. "The concert is only 1 hour and 15 minutes with no intermission.

Pre-show activities will include a free 30-minute pre-concert talk by Paul Hyde at Genevieve's one hour before the concerts, a GSO education table with coloring pages, and a table with promotional materials from Roper Mountain Science Center.

The Demographics Of Terrestrial Planets In The Venus Zone - Astrobiology

A statistical strategy for evaluating the evolutionary pathways of terrestrial planets lies in the atmospheric characterization of exoplanets, where the sample size provides sufficient means for determining required runaway greenhouse conditions.

To facilitate studies of exoVenus candidates, we provide a catalog of all confirmed terrestrial planets in the Venus Zone, including transiting and non-transiting cases, and quantify their potential for follow-up observations.
