One of the core concepts of the show is rooted in Segovia's childhood love for a particular style of science fiction TV show. "When I was kid, I used to think I didn't like sci-fi, but then I realized I didn't like sci-fi where they travel . I just wanted to stay ," he says. "I didn't really like the Star Trekky let's go to these planets [and] fight a monster. I really like the idea of lazy spacefaring. Like you've gotten out here and you're just gonna hang out a little bit."
Many things are taking place:
Apollo 15 astronaut: Anti-Trump feeling may limit US space investment
"Anti-President Trump" sentiment in the U.S. could become a barrier to American investment in space exploration, according to astronaut Al Worden.
The U.S. president has openly shared his aspirations for NASA to reach Mars and return to the moon . But speaking to CNBC's Hadley Gamble at the Dubai Air Show on Monday, Worden — who served as the command module pilot in NASA's Apollo 15 mission to the moon — expressed doubts as to whether the president would be successful in his push for increased investments in the space agency.
New 'Atlas Obscura' Book Offers Host of Space Oddities to Visit on Earth | Space
If you're looking to plan a space-themed trip but you've already been to NASA's Kennedy and Johnson space centers, Atlas Obscura's new book can offer off-the-beaten-path cosmic destinations.
" Atlas Obscura, 2nd Edition: An Explorer's Guide to the World's Hidden Wonders " (Workman Publishing, 2019) offers around-the-world destination recommendations for travelers looking for something unusual. Plenty of those recommendations touch on spaceflight and related topics.
Space travel barrier removed as docs freeze and revive human for first time - Daily Star
Journeys to other star systems will forever be out of reach unless a massive breakthrough in physics makes faster-than-light travel a reality, or a breakthrough in medicine makes suspended animation possible. Now, at least, one of those things has happened.
Samuel Tisherman, a professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, is the leader of a team that has successfully put a human being in suspended animation.
Describing the successful operation as "a little surreal," Professor Tisherman told New Scientist how he removed the patient's blood and replaced with ice-cold saline solution.
Not to change the topic here:
Hibernating astronauts could make deep space exploration possible, study says | Fox News
NASA is aiming to have astronauts land on Mars by 2035, but there may need to be drastic changes in how astronauts operate in space for that to happen. A new study suggests that hibernation may be the way to do it, provided the technology works.
The research, put forth by the European Space Agency, suggests that there would be substantial benefits for these future space missions, including smaller spacecraft.
"We worked on adjusting the architecture of the spacecraft, its logistics, protection against radiation, power consumption and overall mission design," said Robin Biesbroek of the ESA's Concurrent Design Facility in a statement .
NASA:Space Travel For Long Affects Astronaut's Blood Flow, Causing Deadly Clots Says NASA
Space is the final frontier because it's so damn hard, seriously affecting the human body in a variety of ways.
And now, a recent NASA study has revealed that the blood flow in an astronaut's upper body can stop completely or worse -- could go in reverse -- if they spend too much time in zero-gravity space.

NASA researchers examined 11 healthy astronauts (nine male and two female), averagely aged around 46 years who stayed on the International Space Station for an average of six months.
Bridenstine Says NASA Well on Its Way to Putting Astronauts on Mars | Public Radio Tulsa
Speaking in Tulsa on Wednesday, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said it's full speed ahead on a goal of putting astronauts on Mars.
"If it is there, it will be discovered, and the question is, who do you want discovering it? Do you want it to be discovered by the United States of America leading a coalition of nations? Or do you want it to be discovered by another nation that might be more hostile to the United States of America?" Bridenstine said.
